Covid-19 – Day 27 Isolation

Hello All,

Great news! Mark’s test results came back clear, he doesn’t have Covid-19. Yay!

Lots of marketing, editing and work in the garden. It’s late, I’m tired so I’m going to leave it at that.

Stay safe.

Covid-19 – Day 26 Isolation

Hello All,

26 days in and I’m finding there are not enough hours in the day to get everything I want done. I’m not getting up late, generally around 8am maybe as late as 9am some days but there is so much I want to do!

Spent the day washing clothes, mine and my parents’ whose washing machine broke down last week, handy that! It was a lovely day to get them dry, stripped the bed and put on fresh, clean sheets – love that clean sheet feeling. Maybe I should go to bed now. More housework, sorting stuff etc… More cutting of the honeysuckle bush from next door, and pulling down my fence which is completely broken as a result of said bush. Didn’t get to sand any more of the table as I had the washing out and not sure Mum and Dad wanted their washing back with sawdust!

Finished the marketing exercises I needed to do for the course I’m on which felt very satisfying.

Had a lovely video chat with my parents, sister, brother, and cousin Kathleen in Australia who was filling us in on her findings on the family tree after doing a DNA test. Think we’d all like to do that now. Discovered that my Dad has a half Auntie who is still alive. How cool is that? Kathleen has emailed us her results so think I’ll take a look when I’ve finished this post. It was also lovely to have the opportunity to talk to Kathleen, other than Facebook comments and the odd message we haven’t really communicated since we were kids.

Spent a little bit of time editing, but my brain is ever so slightly fried now so I gave up. Will approach tomorrow morning with fresh eyes.

Hopefully we should get the news back on Mark’s Covid-19 test tomorrow, fingers crossed and for those who pray can you say one for us.

Stay safe.

Covid-19 – Day 25 Isolation

Good evening all,

I’m exhausted! It’s tiring doing nothing. Actually I’ve had another productive day. Pulled everything out from under the stairs and sorted it out and gave it all a good scrubbing and spent about an hour sanding down my table. Still a long way to go, I was covered in sawdust to boot! Will have to post before and after pictures when it’s done.

I’ve also spent part of the afternoon and evening on my marketing ads. I’m picking up Kindle Unlimited page reads which is good but yet to see any book sales. Patience is the watchword here though.

Worked my money out for the month after getting my pay slip, looking rather grim and will be tight but beggars can’t be choosers.

Still waiting on the results for Mark’s Covid-19 test, which we’ve been told should be Monday now.

Heading off now to chill for a while.

Stay safe.

Covid-19 – Day 24 Isolation

Good evening all,

Went for my first walk in 24 days, I didn’t go anywhere exciting just into Hounslow to pay in some cheques from mum and dad for their shopping. It was both nice and surreal at the same time to be out and about. I popped into Asda to get some bits for Mum and Dad which I couldn’t get before, and as my brother was going over there to drop off some medication I met him on the way home and popped the shopping into his car boot. It was nice getting to see his face and that of my sister-in-law and niece who were in the car even from the two meter distance.

The rest of the day was spent working through the Amazon Ads course by Bryan Cohen, I can’t recommend this enough. Bryan makes it so easy and I’ve learned so much and has made me realise where I was going wrong before, with loads of tips to speed up the process.

Yesterday I told you my son was having to isolate in his room at the care home, today he was tested and we will be getting the results back tomorrow. He seems to be in good spirits and says he feels well. Fingers crossed.

I would like to give a shout out to Home From Home Care for the fantastic care and sensitive handling of the situation. Thank you for looking after my boy.

I would also like to give another shout out to Captain Tom Moore who has raised over 20 million pounds in his 100 lengths of his garden before his 100th birthday, for the NHS. A hero twice in his lifetime. The world would be a better place if we had more people like him. Here’s a link to his fundraiser:

Covid-19 – Day 23 Isolation

Hello All,

Another late and brief one. Food shopping for my parents and friend’s Dad today, fairly painless on the whole.

When I got home, my son’s care home advised me that he has a cough and the GP has advised he needs to be in isolation in his room for 14 days. This would be hard for anyone but someone with complex special needs and Autism then it is almost impossible. His anxieties are so intense that anything could happen.

So my head hasn’t been in anything today and I just scraped through the training on the Amazon Ads course and did the required homework but no more than that.

The usual crowd gathered outside at 8pm to cheer the amazing key-workers who are keeping our country running.

Stay safe and I’ll catch up tomorrow.

Covid-19 – Day 22 Isolation

Good evening,

I’m late posting today as I’ve spend most of the day and evening marketing, with a few hours editing. I’ve just created six new adverts on Amazon today and my homework is to do another ten.

Had a zoom chat with my colleagues from work this morning and that is about all.

Short but sweet today.

Stay safe

Covid-19 – Day 21

Hello All,

Thanks for joining me again in my one woman journey through the current lockdown. Went out to do my food shopping today to Tesco’s, the queue was five deep to get in and took about forty-five minutes which is way longer than it normally takes. I did get chatting to someone called Larry in the queue and had a few minutes of banter.

Didn’t feel very motivated after getting back from the supermarket but did manage to pick myself up in the afternoon when I spent time editing and picked up the “Publisher Rocket” software which I already love, which makes keyword and category searches much easier and user friendly.

Nowhere near my step target today so will have some catching up to do for the rest of the week.

Just watching the next episode in Our Girl and chilling with a glass of wine.

Catch ya tomorrow, stay safe.

Covid-19 – Day 20

Hello All,
Today I spent the whole day marketing, didn’t expect to say that, ever. After looking at numerous different things I was re-directed to Kindlepreneur which I found really useful and managed to make a few changes on my Amazon Ads as a result. Then I started Bryan Cohen’s 5 days Amazon Ad Profit Challenge which taught me more. I set up a new Automatic Sponsored Ads campaign as part of the first-day challenge and made further amendments. Fingers crossed this works as this could be the first small step towards actually making a profit as that my long-term goal is to make a living from writing. I was so caught up in doing this that I didn’t write/edit today, I won’t reach my step target of 10,000 steps for the day but that’s okay as it was very productive.

Settling in to watch the next episode of Our Girl.

Stay safe and I’ll be back tomorrow.

Covid-19 – Day 19

Happy Easter everyone, normally I would have had my son home with me and we would have spent the day with my parents. But this year it wasn’t to be, like most other people I observed the social distancing rule. If nothing else the fact we have had over 10,000 deaths in this country should be enough to stop people from going out when they don’t need to. I did have the pleasure of having a video catch up with my parents, my brother, sister, and my auntie Moyra in Australia.

Today, I ripped hell out of that honeysuckle bush, still loads to go but can really see the difference. Scrubbed the bathroom and toilet top to bottom which was deeply satisfying. 13,000 steps done and my weights routine completed.

My brother posted the following picture on our sibling what’s app group and we spent an enjoyable hour or so trying to guess the 30 80’s hits:

Covid-19 – Day 18

Hello all,

I’ve had a really busy day today, housework this morning and then cutting up more wood in the garden, followed by sanding down a table. I have a table which was given to me many years ago by my mum and dad’s neighbour which I would like to paint grey to fit into my lounge. So I started the task of stripping back the thick varnish, only I discovered I had very few sandpaper sheets to use in my electric sander! Normally, not a problem – head to the shops, except I couldn’t do that, not an essential item so I’ll have to wait.

Hacked off more of the honeysuckle growing over from my neighbours garden which is breaking my fence, unfortunately I only have small secateurs so taking a long time to do but each bit removed is making it look better.

I did my weights this morning also and so far over 11,000 steps so a very physical day which should help with the weight loss. I can already feel the aching limbs despite a long soak in the bath. 5lb lost so far in two weeks.

In the afternoon I spent some time on the first round edits on Illicit Love.

I don’t watch a lot of TV but have started watching Our Girl from series one and I’m now already on series two and I’m hooked. Initially I watched because some of it is based in Afghanistan and one of my main characters in Illicit Love is a foreign correspondent in Afghanistan so figured it would be great research for padding out. I’ve enjoyed it so much that I look forward to watching it daily.

Should head off now.

Stay safe.
