Covid-19 – Day 77 Isolation

Good evening all,

Spent the morning looking at the keywords for my Amazon Ads, which ones are working and which not so much.

This afternoon I had a walk and a 1km jog on the treadmill and also worked on the edit of A Boy from the Streets, before returning mum and dad’s washing to them.

Covid-19 – Day 76 Isolation

Good evening all,

Walked down to Aldi in Hounslow today, at a time when people are going back to work and companies are having to measure 2m distance to keep their staff and customers safe but supermarkets seem to have given up trying. I queued to get in but then about 10 people were allowed in at once and about 15 people were clustered around the small aisle. I waited for many minutes until they had dispersed. No-one is bothered seemingly, other than me.

So a good twenty-five minute walk there and the same again back with heave shopping.

Made some peanut butter, chocolate brownies today, but cut them into smaller pieces so there were less calories.

My friend Shirley came over this afternoon, who I haven’t seen since the lockdown and went out for a walk around Hounslow Heath. It was lovely having a catch up and managed to get 19,000 steps in today.

6lbs lost, so heading in the right direction.

Stay safe.

Covid-19 – Day 75 Isolation

Good evening all,

A day of housework! Not exciting but very rewarding to see the result.

Other than that I’ve done a small amount of editing. Other than that I’ve spent most of the day on the phone due to some personal family matters.

Keeping this brief and signing out now.

Stay safe.

Covid-19 – Day 74 Isolation

Good evening all,

I went for a walk down to Lidl in Feltham to get a few items and combine with getting my 15,000 steps in. Also completed my weights programme.

Last night I sent the edited version of A Boy from the Streets to my Kindle to do a final read though, so today I’ve been reading through and only found 41 mistakes so far, at 21 per cent.

I picked up a cross stitch pattern I’d been working on a long time ago and started doing some more. A lovely relaxing afternoon.

Covid-19 – Day 73 Isolation

Good evening all,

Think I might start off with a mini rant again.

Donald Trump thinks George Floyd is having a good day! WTAF! How can an innocent man who was brutally murdered be looking down and having a good day. If, Mr President Sir, you believe this is possible you should join him and see what it looks like, though you may find yourself in the fiery pits of hell. It is so incomprehensible that anyone can be that deluded. Instead of spouting utter bullshit, why don’t you attempt to unite your country and be remembered as the president who kicked racism into touch. Nah I thought not.

Here we go, this is a challenge for all country leaders out there, let your legacy be in stamping out racism, enabling people of colour to have the same advantages as your white citizens. You’d go down in history as all time heroes. If you can’t do it because its the right thing to do, do it because it boosts your ego. Either way, do it!

Rant over!

Still feeling rather exhausted and listless today but carried on pushing myself.

15,000 steps, including walk to and around Hounslow Heath done. Weights done. Healthy eating done.

Completed the final edit of A Boy from the Streets and have sent a copy to my Kindle to do a final check and also to my lovely friend Su S’ari, also known as Rose English.

Another 357 deaths in the last 24 hours due to Covid-19, a shockingly high number still given how quickly we are coming out of lockdown. It concerns me that we will face another spike and this could be worse still.

The amount of people losing their jobs is also frightening, what a time to be out of work and looking for a new one!

Left my review for Hunter’s Moon by Sherri A Wingler which went live today.

If you haven’t checked out her books already who really should dip in and escape reality for a while. Check out book 1 in the series.

Covid-19 – Day 72 Isolation

Good evening,

Another day of exhaustion! Not sure where it’s come from but I am hanging.

Went to Tesco’s to do shopping for Mum and Dad and my friend Emma’s Dad. The supermarket was heaving, I swear they’re not counting people in now and the clusters of ten or more people in an aisle is crazy. Also almost no-one is observing the one way system. When challenged, one woman said “Well, no-one is sticking to it.” If everyone jumps off a cliff springs to mind. Maybe that’s what they should all do to save the rest of us.

Went out for my walk after lunch. Still managing to maintain my 15,000 steps although not easy feeling this shattered. I’ve lost 4.5lbs in a week and a half. Must keep going this time though! No falling off the bandwagon – nor cliffs if it comes to it.

A bit more work done on A Boy from the Streets, approximately 100 pages left to work on.

Stay safe

Covid-19 – Days 70 & 71 Isolation

Good evening all,

Sorry I couldn’t post last night, I had internet connection problems which wouldn’t allow me to get onto this site. You’ll be pleased to know there won’t be a rant today. So I’ll do a quick day 70 and day 71.

Day 70:

Stayed in, apart from my walk to Hounslow Heath which I went on first thing in the morning. The rest of the day was spent working on A Boy from the Streets.

Day 71:

Went for my hour’s walk, not quite so sunny today but it was still nice to be in the park and woods this morning. Had our weekly work Zoom catch-up. There are fewer people on there now that a large proportion are back to work.

Set up another Facebook advert today after the other one came to an end, the results weren’t too bad either. Hope this one does well.

More edits on boy. Not much more to report, but I am exhausted!

Stay safe.

Covid-19 – Day 69 Isolation

Good evening all,

Tonight’s post is going to be a rant! So be prepared and don’t read if you don’t like harsh language.

WTF is going on with this world. COVID19 yep we’re all over that, we’ve been locked down but because we need to get the economy going again we’re being thrown to the wolves.

Now, I haven’t said anything on here about what is happening in the USA, I’ve commented on FB posts and been vocal to everyone I’ve spoken to about the brutal and senseless murder of George Floyd. I watched the video with tears streaming down my face. I was angry, infuriated in fact. There are four men responsible for his death and they should all be made to pay the price — they should be locked up for life.

I cannot for the life of me understand racism. Why? How can the colour of a person’s skin determine the way they are treated in society? If you cut a person of colour their blood is as red as our privileged white skin. All their internal organs are the same as mine. No one abuses someone because they have black/brown hair so why are people fixated on the differences in skin tone. The whole thing is beyond my comprehension. But George Floyd is not the only black man to be slaughtered because of his colour. I watched a video where a black man said he was scared to walk the streets alone, he was fine when he had his cute dog and daughters cos then he was your average Dad taking his kids out, but alone he was deemed a threat. This is NOT acceptable! We’re in 2020 we have enough to face with COVID-19, people grow up and take a hard look at yourself. If you think that a person is less important people of the colour of their skin, it says fuck loads about you, and none of its good!

My rule of thumb, if you’re a dick and act like a dick — I don’t like you, in fact, I may make it obvious as my face has a life force of its own. But this dislike is NOT based on the colour of your skin, hair, religion, sexuality, or anything else other than your behaviour. I’m not saying you should all be like me, God forbid but if you could treat people fairly and respect their differences we would be in a much better place.

Next rant:

UK are you for real? Making it illegal to have sex with someone who is outside your household. Bear with me, I know we’re not supposed to socialise in close contact inside with people, but…

If you can’t work from home you must go back to work. No matter how much a company sets out social distancing rules this will be breached and probably daily.

Supermarkets, opening up check out next to each other – so they have 2 metres spacing for the queue to the till, but open two up together so you’re often closer than 1 meter away from people. In Lidl in Feltham, the checkouts are soooooo close that the stuff members brush passed each other to get into their seat, holding on to the back of their colleagues seat to get by as its that close.

Walk or ride to work if possible, if not take the car – oh, oops we’ll raise the congestion charge which will force people back on public transport.

Public transport, you’re only as far away as the dickhead who breaches your space.

We’ll open up markets, cos people know how to socially distance themselves – do they fuck?

Lets allow sports to start up again, please tell me how they will do a socially distanced rugby scrum?

Parks, groups of fifteen people playing cricket, ten kids and two adults doing what looked like football training over the weekend at Hounslow Heath.

Beaches, people crammed onto them with no regard for social distancing.

Parties, there are reports of them still happening.

But let’s charge two people who are in love but don’t happen to live with each other with breaking the law.
Well done, you’ve excelled yourself on the barometer of fucked up behaviour.

Rant over.

Food shopping for me today in Lidl, only one person other than myself had any concept we were socially distancing.

Spent most of the day polishing the re working of A Boy from the Streets, which has incidentally started to get me some nice sales in the UK. I went to bed at just over 20,000 in the rankings and this evening I’ve come down further to 11,045.

Went for a walk to Hounslow Heath, got my 15,000 steps in. My health kick is going well, long may it last.

And I think that’s it…

Covid-19 – Day 68 Isolation

Good evening all,

Another lovely day inside, spent the morning weeding between the paving slabs in my garden, I’ve completed half the job but my back doesn’t like being in that position for too long.

This after I sat out in the sun working on the rewrite of A Boy from the Streets.

Went for another hour’s walk, enjoying the tranquility of nature and hating the groups of people out and about.

A lovely long soak in the bath, followed by dinner and a glass of wine completed my day.

Covid-19 – Day 67 Isolation

Good evening all,

Another day inside, with the exception of an hour’s walk this evening to ensure I could get my 15,000 steps in. Had a catch up with my best friend Shirley Clarke on the phone whilst I was out for my walk.

I finished the Facebook ads course and have set up an ad. Fingers crossed it pays dividends.

Spent the rest of the day working on A Boy from the Streets. I’ve now started again tightening up the beginning, as reading back I felt it was a bit formal and stilted in the beginning. A writer’s work is never done!

Stay safe.
